Barely a week after the election gun ban implementation on
Sunday, Ozamiz police has arrested one suspect.
Police superintendent Regino Onate, Ozamiz City police
director the suspect was collared inside Philip’s Store last January 13.
Onate identified the suspect as Carlo Maghanoy, 25 years old
and a resident in Purok Traffic Light Tinago, Ozamiz City. Confiscated from the
suspect were a .38 revolver “paltik” and single ammunition.
The arrest of the suspect is due to the implementation of
Oplan Sita and Commelec gun ban.
The official explained that the implementation gun ban is
meant to address election-related violence wherein the usual tool of commission
is through guns.
Aside from the conduct of checkpoint, Onate said they have
also intensified in the crackdown on illegal drugs sellers in the city.(NAB)
