Ozamiz City elections went well

OZAMIZ CITY--Despite 16 of 51 Barangays of Ozamiz City identified by the Commission on elections (COMELEC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) as critical and less critical areas, synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls conducted successfully.

The nine critical barangays were closely monitored by the PNP were Barangays Gala, Montol, Capucao P, Balintawak, Guimad, Guinggona, Mentering, Sangay Daku and Trigos.
The less crirical barangays consist of Kinuman Sur, Kinuman Norte, Malaubang, Cavinte, Manaka, Lam-an and Labo.

Ozamiz City has a total of 71,735 voters in 51 barangays; 264 polling precincts and 54 polling centers of the SK.

Police Superintendent Gervacio Balmaceda, Jr., Ozamiz City chief said the polls went well despite an attempt of ballot snatching in Ozamiz City National High School (OCNHS), were Barangay Lam-an voters cast their votes.

In an interview over dxDD-AM, a Catholic run radio station Balmaceda said that at about 7 pm, Monday two unidentified riding in tandem suspects forcefully snatched the ballot box from precinct 211-A and 211-B. The said ballot box was about to be transported to COMELEC office when grabbed by the suspects.

The suspects were riding in haste to leave but blocked by the PNP mobile patrol causing their driven motorcycle to stumble.

According to reports, suspects fled to unknown direction leaving the ballot box.
Police authorities still conducting thorough investigation of the said incident.
