OZAMIZ CITY: In a gesture of fraternal solidarity, the Catholic-run Radio Station dxDD-AM of Ozamis Archdiocese has spearheaded a donation campaign and successfully gathered food and used clothing which will be transported to Manila for the families displaced by Typhoon “Ondoy” as they brace themselves for super typhoon “Pepeng” in Manila archdiocese.

dxDD-AM Public Affairs Program issued an appeal to all parishes, Catholic schools, and religious organizations to help the typhoon victims.

Some parishes of this local church, schools, other institutions and several individual donors responded to the call and generously sent in donations in cash and in kind.

Several weeks ago, students from the various private schools and some members of the Federation of Senior Citizens led by City Councilor Cecelia Mabanag, parish priests and religious organizations from several parishes of this province and many individuals trooped to this radio station bringing with them goods and used clothing.

The campaign which has generated an amount of almost P 50, 000 in cash and more than 500 packages of used clothing was coursed through Caritas Manila in coordination of Negros Navigation.

Empathizing with the typhoon victims, the people of Misamis Occidental, did not only share material things, but also devoted their time for the relief operation spearheaded by the Operation Tabang.

It was a concrete gesture of thanksgiving to God and expression of brotherly solidarity with the Archdiocese of Ozamis.
