OROQUIETA CITY-- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), region 10, still raises its ban for paralytic shellfish, here, after latest laboratory reports reveal that it goes beyond the regulatory limit.
Other provinces which tested positive of the “red tide” include Dumanguillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur, Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Masinloc Bay in Zambales.
BFAR warns people living in those areas mentioned that all types of shellfish and alamang gathered on these bays are not safe to eat, except for fish, squids, and crabs provided that it will be cleaned thoroughly before cooking.
Officials said, it would be best to throw away the internal organs, such as gills and intestines.
For areas under regular monitoring in the region, Taguines Lagoon in Camiguin Island still remains clean and safe from red tide.
BFAR latest shellfish bulletin also declares the coastal waters of Cavite, Las Piñas and Parañaque to be safe including Navotas, Bulacan and Bataan in Manila Bay.
While waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos and Bani in Pangasinan; Milagros and Mandaon in Masbate; Juag Lagoon in Matnog and Sorsogon Bay in Sorsogon; Honda and Puerto Bays in Puerto Princesa City, and Inner Malampaya Sound in Taytay, Palawan are also declared safe for consumption.
Including bays of Pilar, President Roxas, Pontevedra, Panay, Roxas City, Ivisan and Sapian in Capiz; coastal waters of E.B. Magalona, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Valladolid, Talisay City, Silay City, Bacolod City, Hinigaran, Cadiz City, Victoria City, bago City and San Enrique in Negros Occidental.
Irong-irong, Maqueda and Villareal Bays in Samar; Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar, as well as coastal waters of Ormoc, San Pedro, Cancabato and Carigara Bays in Leyte; Biliran waters in Biliran Province; Hinatuan, Bislig and Lianga Bays in Surigao del Sur; Blite Bay in Mati, Davao Oriental; Kabasalan in Sibuguey Bay, and Zamboanga Sibugay.
