MISAMIS Occidental governor Loreto Leo Ocampos joins Senator Nonoy Aquino’s Liberal Party in the so called ‘star studded’ oath taking ceremony.
ABS-CBN, in a news report published dated Nov. 24, said Ocampos and at least 100 candidates in the local elections around the country, including actor Richard Gomez, and Nonoy’s girlfriend Shalani Soledad took their oath of membership before Aquino and Sen. Manuel 'Mar' Roxas, the LP candidates for president and vice-president respectively, at the LP headquarters in Cubao, Quezon City.
Showbiz personalities who also took their membership at the LP headquarters were former celebrity couple Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla.
Barretto was accompanied by re-electionist Caloocan Mayor Recom Echiverri, who is rumored to be her new sweetheart.
Two days ago in an interview over dxDD-AM, Ocampos said that he is seeking party affiliation either Senator Manny Vilar’s Nacionalista Party (NP) or Nonoy’s Liberal Party. But he confided that he is favorable in choosing LP due to its mandate and principles.
In a text message, Ocampos said Ozamiz City councilor Constancia 'Connie' Lim, mayoralty aspirant was there too.
According to sources from Malacanang, Ocampos' move is a major defection from the Lakas-Kampi-CMD since he is the president of the League of Provinces of the Philippines and a member of the ruling party's national executive committee. (NEPTALIE A. BATOLENIO)
