150 graduate from farmers' field school in LDN

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte:A TOTAL of 150 farmers from the different barangays of Lala, Lanao del Norte graduated October 12 from the season-long Farmers' Field School (FFS) on rice production (palay check system) at Flores Cultural Center, Maranding Lanao del Norte .

Dr. Edna Mabesa, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) RTC-X, center Director, gave out certificates of completion, and together with the Provincial Agriculture Office led by Letecia G. Ditucalan, Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Unit X and local Government of Lala headed by Mayor Santiago Bontilao.


“The conduct of Palay Check training is for the rice producing municipalities to know and identify friendly insects and insect pests in every stage of the crop and the diseases that attack rice during its production stage” discussed by Dr. Mabesa.


Palay Check technology training includes the conduct of Minus One Technique (MOET) and Leaf Color Chart (LCC) techniques in assessing nutrient deficiency, guide fertilizer application and generate savings in fertilizer use.


The role of ATI is to provide extension services to farmers through trainings. And through this, farmers can probably utilize the learnings and extend technical assistance to their fellow farmers.


The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte has been prioritizing the enhancement of Agriculture field in the province to make best use of the resources herein and attain economic progress. ARMS/PIO-LDN.
